Dear Friends:
I can remember the first year we started the LCC Haunted House. It was October of 2000, we used black plastic sheeting to enclose the carport and put up plastic walls inside and made about 4 little rooms of horror! I think at that time, we had about 5-6 people total working in it! We charged a $1 admission price or you could bring a canned food item and get in for free! I think we had about 50-60 people go thru that first year and I can remember how much FUN we all had! Since then, we have expanded and grown into what we are now. In 2009, we had over 600 guests go thru the Haunted House. We had close to 50 volunteers working on peak nights, and we have grown into a 10 room building, not including our tour thru the woods, and our SLIDE! It’s simply amazing to see how far we have come together!

Putting together the LCC Haunted House is something that I long for every year. It’s one of my passions and I have had so much fun with it over the past 9 years. Saying that, It’s very hard for me to say what I have to say next… The decision has been made to no longer have the haunted house.

There are a few reasons for this decision. The main reason being, the building that we are currently running in is in need of some much needed maintenance and upkeep, which at this time, is not in our budget. We had discussed moving the haunted house to the old store building right off the road, but again, it would take lots of time, and lots of money to get that building ready, especially since we would be starting new.

Another major reason for my decision is, as most of you know, in October of 2011, I will be getting married and starting a new chapter in my life! Marla has been very supportive of the LCC and the LCC Haunted House and I thank her for that.

Words can not begin to express how much I thank each and everyone of you for all of your support, help, love, sweat, blood, and tears that everyone has put into this project over the past 9 years. None of what we have accomplished could have been done without ya’ll. The haunted house has provided me with many great new friendships, and I am thankful for those, and I hope to keep those friendships even though we will no longer be doing the haunted house together.

As a final GOODBYE and THANK YOU, the Lincoln Community Club is planning a Huge Halloween Party for Friday, October 29th, 2010. We want to use this night to bring everyone back together one last time, to remember the past and to celebrate the future. It’s sure to be one heck of a party and it’s open to EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER BEEN INVOLVED IN THE LCC HAUNTED HOUSE TO ATTEND!

More details about the celebration will come a little bit later, but I wanted everyone to know the date early so you can clear you calendar because you WILL NOT WANT TO MISS THIS NIGHT! I promise it will be an evening you will never forget full of great memories, stories, food, entertainment, prizes, giveaways and more! It’s my way of saying THANK YOU !

Again, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone for all of your hard work. Personally, I’m not going to know what to do around September when it comes time to start working on the haunted house. Fall 2010 will definitely not be the same! But I do want to reflect on the memories and great times we all had.

If anyone has questions or needs to talk to me at any time, my line is always open!

Thank you guys again and I can’t wait to see you all on October 29th!

Christopher Rudd
